A MURAL IN SOUTH DAKOTA

South Dakota was unlike any other place I’ve visited. It was such a delightful surprise to reconnect with a friend from over 20 years ago and learn that she had opened a thriving Med Spa—and even more exciting that she wanted me to create a mural for its exterior! Small towns are my favorite, and this project was no exception. Staying in a historic downtown hotel and walking to work every morning made it all the more special.

For the mural, I revisited an older concept I had worked on years ago, refining it to perfectly suit this space. Using the spa owner, Heidi, as the model and designing a 3D atmosphere around her ensured the building truly stood out. The entire experience was so inspiring that I even painted Mount Rushmore later that year as one of my donations to NIH.
