Brooklyn Building Murals

A MURAL 12 STORIES TALL

Determined to bring inspiration to his tenants, downtown property owner Barry Jacobson commissioned me to turn the courtyard of his adjoining buildings at 186 Joralemon Street into a larger-than-life urban masterpiece. The 12-story mural, packed with iconic New York imagery—including a towering three-story Statue of Liberty—transforms the brick façade into a vibrant cityscape. Over 15,000 brownstones were meticulously painted to create this stunning visual, making each glance out the window an unexpected encounter with art.

Though this hidden gem lies within a private atrium, primarily accessible to tenants, Jacobson says the project was about more than just aesthetics. For residents like Rep. Ed Towns and Little Flower Children’s Services, it’s an “interesting, informative, and creative” gift that elevates their everyday surroundings.
